Animal Rescue Foundation’s puppy Bea was selected to participate in Animal Planet’s Puppy Bowl XIX! Bea is deaf and one of the 11 special-needs puppies highlighted during the February 12th broadcast. This year’s Puppy Bowl is the largest yet, with 122 puppy players from 67 different shelters and rescues making up the event’s Team Ruff and Team Fluff. Be sure to root for Team Ruff! Bea also had a photo shoot with well-known dog street photographer, Elais Weiss Friedman, also known as The Dogist (@thedogist).

Filming the Puppy Bowl in a network studio in New York is a long way from where Bea and her sister, Honey, were found loose on a busy West Virginia road this summer. We’re so glad they were picked up by Jenny from Animal Rights Furever and eventually transported to ARF from Jackson County Animal Shelter through our rescue connections. Rescue is truly a team effort!

Adoption Update

We are excited to share that this special needs cutie was ADOPTED!!! Bea’s amazing forever family didn’t hesitate when we let them know she was deaf and are teaching her commands with hand gestures and treats. Her new name is Pepper! Her sister, Honey, also found a loving home!

If you are interested in adding a special addition to your family, check out ARF’s available dogs and puppies (or cats and kittens!).
