Beacon, NY – On Sunday, May 21, 2023, Memorial Park buzzed with excitement as animal lovers and fitness enthusiasts gathered for the Annual ARF 5K Run & Walk with the Dogs. With the sun shining and spirits high, this beloved event saw over 160 humans and 64 dogs hitting the pavement in support of the Animal Rescue Foundation (ARF).
DJ Vybe set the tempo as the day kicked off, and participants donned vibrant blue race t-shirts and some purchased adorable ARF-created bandanas for their canine companions.Â
Creativity was on full display with dogs dressed as a bumblebee, a lion, superheroes, and even Dr. Seuss’ iconic duo, Thing 1 and Thing 2! Plus the sight of dogs adopted from ARF happily frolicking with their forever families was heartwarming, reminding everyone of the incredible impact of adoption.
Throughout the event, the generosity of the community shone brightly, with 31 local businesses rallying behind ARF through prizes, raffles, refreshments, and donations. And thanks to the artistic talents of Rits Trini Art, free face painting for the kids added an extra splash of color to the festivities.
The support didn’t end there, as over 30 dedicated ARF volunteers lent their time and expertise, ensuring smooth operations and safe runners.
As the morning drew to a close, participants left with tails wagging in anticipation of next year. Mark your calendars for May 19, 2024, and join ARF for another paw-some 5K adventure.
